You have to be a certain type of person to accept JW's. That's why billions don't.

The Man who changed YOUR LIFE (part 2)
by Terry inwilliam miller began his preaching reluctantly.
he had no formal training and he was self-educated.
but, having suffered a crisis of faith and having experienced the restoration of belief in a hand's-on god; this only gave his messege conviction.. the shortness of time until the end was the core of the witness work begun in the pulpit of local churches he'd been invited to preach in.. the messege was urgent, but, why would people listen?

Why Christmas Is Important
by metatron inevery year, i take some time to express my admiration and respect for christmas.. yes, christmas, folks.. i don't give a rat's a$$ when jesus was or wasn't born.
i don't care how many gift giving orgies the romans had.
i don't care about "pagan" customs derived from religions that are long dead, anyway.

I don't think Christmas is important. In fact I loathe it. The gaudy decorations. The expense.
If it was truly about the birth of Christ that would be different but unfortunately it has become a full of commercial greed.
Family and friends are important all year as are those less fortunate.
I never celebrated a Christmas as a JW. I don't celebrate it now. I am glad "the Word became flesh"

To those who believe in an afterlife reward, what is the big deal about death?
by ThomasCovenant inmuslims and christians, and probably most other religions i suspect, seem to believe in a happy afterlife which is inevitably better and longer lasting than this one on earth.
so what is wrong with dying and death here now?
why the terrible grief at the death of loved ones?

How big a deal depends on how strong your faith, is I think.

Facebook makes people you don't see very often more real
by sabastious insocial networks have their pros and cons, but overall i really enjoy them.
it lets you peer into the window of the lives of people you care about that live too far away to have a regular relationship with.
you still feel connected.. -sab.

No Need For EdenTree Unless God Knew An Angle was...
by Sayswho inno need for eden tree unless god knew an angle was...going to try and foil his purpose for other life forms.this has always not added up for me.
there is really no reason for the tree (s) unless god knew that he had angles that were already bad in their 'hearts'.
so the questions i have on this are.... were the angles tested to see if they would remain faithful?were humans created to be the test for the angles?was it was 'fair' to have spirit creatures (millions of years old?

I don't know that you can say how old angels are. Time is a funny thing.
Maybe it highlighted the difference between God and man. God being unlimited. Something to aim for.

When I was a JW I would not have allowed a blood transfusion for my children. I would no longer sacrifice my children.
If my child had died as a result of my previous viewpoint I would not be a happy man.
Molech isn't God.

This is how it was taught when I was young and making decisions that affected the rest of my life as many others did.
The 1974 Awake of April 8th shows how certain they were.
Under the subheading "Why Certain" Page 17
"Now we have reached the time when God will take action to bring about the full realization of all his grand promises"
"The Bible shows that this generation consists of those who were living in 1914"
Under the subheading "Coming Soon" Page 18
"When will it come?" Before the lifetime of the '1914 generation' runs out."
"How do we know that? Because this point was specifically mentioned by Jesus Christ as part of his prophecy for our times."
"The '1914 generation' has nearly run out, with most of the people who were alive then having already died. The remainder are of advanced age."
This was at a time when they also taught 1975 as being the end of 6000 years of the 7th creative day along with a thousand years being as one day to Jehovah and the last thousand years of the 7th creative day being a sabbath and a thousand year Jublilee Awake October 8th 1974
Both of these issues of Awake being special issues, I think.

Are they really that bad???
by anonymous4 inhad a good look into the doctrine, beliefs and practices of jws and to be honest, i don't really see anything wrong with it at all.. it's biblical and i've had such an eye opener the past year or so reading some of their books and magazines .
is there really any real reasons why i shouldn't want to get involved further?
:-).

Debator,
"This is an anti-witness site you will only get hatred and bitterness from the majority on here against witnesses"
Isn't it true that as a witness you MUST hate what is bad and isn't it true that you view those who have been JW's and left as apostate, as trampling on Christ's sacrifice. So isn't it true that YOU have a hatred of those on this site?

"He probably just went with the flow, not the right thing for sure but so many people just cannot stand up against stronger people."
Then they shouldn't take the job. No one forces them too.
